COLLABORATIVE EXHIBIT
Rayan Sandhu
Sydney-based artist Rayan Sandhu, is an emerging artist that specialises in abstract mixed media works. Born in Sydney Australia he faced learning difficulties from an early age with communication and self-expression being a definitive struggle throughout his development, confining himself in a box-like state. Using art to evoke his passions and emotions, his artist practice is a sentiment to these ideas.
His recent series ‘Boxed’ encompasses a metaphorical body of work that incorporates geometric forms in a controlled, abstract composition using a combination of acrylic paint, charcoal and oil pastels. Gravitating around the complex dichotomy between speech limitations and freedom of expression through the visual, he incorporates box-like motifs through colour and form, applying linear strokes in varied applications and mediums that reflect such ideas through art. As an emerging artist, Rayan aims to use art as a positive and uplifting form of language and self-expression that extends beyond his disability in hopes of connecting with a greater audience regarding his practice and background.
